My Story

“I've always associated the moment of writing with a moment of lift, of joy, of unexpected reward.”

Seamus Heaney

My journey to become the writer and editor that I am today has come with a great deal of twists and turns, navigating the unanticipated elements.

I began as a creative writer before I could actually write, making up stories and sharing them with my mother and sister. Later, when I could write things down, I learned to type as writing things by hand did not get the words out swiftly enough to suit.

As I worked on the craft of writing, I became a voracious reader, exhausting the small township library near by. To this day, I call multiple libraries home and my residence in North Carolina is full of books.

A love of learning must always accompany a love of writing.

Words are truly my matter, in every facet of my life from my Shakespeare-themed home, to my recreational reading, volunteer activities, and most clearly, my vocation.
